FAQs
When will I receive my planter after purchasing online?
All our planters are made to order. As soon as your payment goes through, your parts enter the queue, are printed and then post processed and by hand, with a current turnaround of 2-3 weeks. This time may change depending on how many orders we have at any given time. We will continually update our customers & website to reflect this. Why does Homebodies do made-to-order instead of product stocking? We are a small business, and prefer to produce on-demand rather than having an over supply of products. This is a much friendlier approach for the environment. How fast is shipping? Once ready, we send our items within the UK with 48hr tracked shipping & delivery confirmation. UK shipping is included. What's included in my order? Your order will include your chosen planter design, dimmer and a 12V power supply. NOT INCLUDED: plants and water tray. Why no plants? Plants are always traumatised by shipping and would be doubly so if sent to be mashed against the edges and contours of our planters. But we know lots of great suppliers! Get in touch if you are looking for something in particular. Tag us on Instagram @homebodies.studio so we can see your creativity with your planters! Can I return it, and how long do I have? The return window is 30 days from when your planter is delivered. As our planters are made-to-order, we ask our customers to please be sure when purchasing from us to reduce the carbon footprint from shipping & repackaging. Returns can be made if the customer is genuinely unhappy with the product or there is a fabrication fault. We do not allow returns for damage caused by the customer during this period. Please see our terms & conditions for more information on returns & our refund policy. I'm not based in the UK, but I really want one of these! Can you ship international?Currently we don't offer inclusive international shipping due to the expense. However, if you are okay paying for international shipping rates, send us an email & we can get a quote for you. How long will the product last? We have put all of our planter models through an R&D and planting period of 1-year to ensure the durability of the electrical components, and that the plants will thrive. This helps to ensure plant viability when cared for properly. Please see our planting & care guide for more information. LED lights last anywhere between 35,000-50,000 hours, so this will last for at least a decade. Afterwards you're still left with a pretty amazing sculpture. How secure are the electrical components given that they're so closely integrated into the design & I will have to water/spray the plants? All the lighting components are sealed within the 3D-printed shapes, with thick plastic walls. The electrical wire that comes out of the bottom of the planter is well sealed and the dimmer is always 0,5 meters away from the planter to be easily cleaned, even under running water without risk Are these really made from recycled plastics? We are supplied entirely with industrial waste plastics filament from UK based printing company Filamentive. So far, every planter has been produced from 89-98% recycled, industrial waste plastic. We are hoping to increase this percentage as well as use consumer waste PET (water bottles and clear packaging) as we grow and gain capacity. We were founded to take plastics out of circulation, not create another market that creates demand for more to be made. Isn't 3D printing energy intensive? It absolutely can be, that is why our workshop is supplied with renewable energy sources, mostly wind. We dream of a workshop supplemented by our own rooftop solar and micro wind. Why are the lights those colours? Plants only need red and blue wavelengths of light to photosynthesize, meaning grow lighting doesn’t need to waste energy on the full light spectrum. We have included some white lighting as commonly available red blue grow light LEDs seem to not be quite enough for all the species we grow to thrive. So we also include full spectrum white to both fill in the missing wavelengths as well as highlight your plant’s greens and make them look their best. |
